THE RETURN OF THE STORKS
The main characters of The Return of the Storks (Vratiće se rode), Švaba and Ekser, make a living in transitional Serbia by dealing in goods of questionable origin. Just as he is about to make the life-changing decision to leave the country, Švaba inherits a house and property in the village of Baranda, near Belgrade. To repay a debt to a local crime boss, he agrees to turn the house into a tavern and brothel, provoking the outrage of the villagers. A series of unpredictable events gives rise to friendships and unbreakable bonds in places where no one would have expected them.
The Return of the Storks is one of the most beloved Serbian cult television series of the past decade. Its premiere episode attracted an audience of 2.6 million viewers, and the series has since become a part of popular culture, with many of its memorable lines entering everyday speech.
